Devotional Embers

Hebrews 11:1 states, “Now, faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Faith simply stated is “SEEING WHAT YOUR EYES CANNOT.” Through good times and bad, it is resting in the shelter of God’s promises during all seasons of our lives.

Embracing God’s promises that He will never leave or forsake us is not hard to do when things are going well in our lives. It feels like the sun is shining on our heads and the flowers are alive with rich color and fragrance, thus, singing praises to the Almighty should be a natural response. Yet, it is during those times we often allow our focus on “SELF” to emerge along with thinking we have everything under our control. Consequently, with eyes focused inward rather than toward our Creator, we put on our dancing shoes thinking all is well with our soul.

Unfortunately, these times of peace and calm in a materialistic world that is built on things that are visible to the human eye, are fleeting at best. Soon, our dancing shoes are back in our closet collecting dust, appearing worn and ragged. We are lost in our world of “SELF” without a clue as to the next step.

Yet, from the beginning to the end of our lives, the answer has always been crystal clear and everlasting. The Great Promise Keeper has been faithful from the very start of man’s existence. He always fulfills His promises and right on time.

Additionally, Scripture from the Holy Bible states clearly that it is out of His great love for us that He is incapable of failing to keep His word. Overwhelming evidence of this is found when He gave the life of His one and only Son as a sacrifice for our sins.

Exodus 33: 21-22 that reads,” There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.” Faith is believing that through the storms of life, our Lord will be near. Why? Because He promised!

In the collection “Stitches of Faith”, the concept of faith comes alive through beautiful photographs of handmade quilts, Scriptures, and matching poetry. Whether reading aloud to another, or silently, the soothing words and pictures will stir your faith and cause tired feet to dance once again.

Also, in this collection, you will have the pleasure of enjoying the story of how the beautiful quilts, thought of as only ordinary by their maker, were changed into a life altering experience of helping little children. A gift thought of as not a big deal has been transformed into a mighty act of God through one of His children that has now reached the beautiful age of 92. Through God, all things are possible if we believe! Amen!
